Like many products born of desperation, Shebeest filled a niche.
As Shebeest™ marks its 10th anniversary, Shebeest founder and designer Claudia Reid is introducing what she touts as new eco-sensitive fabrics to the Shebeest product line. She has introduced cycling clothes crafted from Stretch Bamboo™, a fabric made from sustainably grown bamboo, as well as from Ecowic™, a fabric produced with recycled yarn. SheBeest has also expanded its offerings to include Plus sizes.
Shebeest was born on the Silk Road on an 800 mile long cycling trip- born of frustration, because fashionable and functional female cycling clothes had yet to be introduced. Ten years later, the Shebeest line includes a broad selection of cycling shorts and other clothing for sporty women.
Retailing for $55-120, the Shebeest shorts line includes short shorts, skorts, capris and pedal pusher styles. None of these come in the eco-friendly fabrics, unfortunately. But they are equipped with Seamless™ construction and Bodymapping™ technology to reduce chafing and customize the fit. The Shelastic Chamois used in the shorts resembles a bike saddle and not by accident. The Chamois uses multidensity foam to distribute weight away from sensitive areas, reduce bulkiness and eliminate chafing.
For comfort and style, Shebeest cycling shorts continuously generate glowing reviews. Words like “awesome” and “the best” pop up repeatedly when reading wearer’s comments. The Breezer Board short is the subject of 5 reviews at REI.com and rated 5/5 stars overall. The Breezer Board afficiandos repeatedly mention that the shorts feel true to size, are breathable, durable, dry quickly and are well padded.
Shebeest Triple S cycling shorts likewise earned a 5/5 star overall rating by users at Sierra Trading Post and at Buzzillions. One reviewer at Buzzillions noted, “the material they use is very flattering to the women’s figure.”

Shebeest Tech Cycling Tights did not fare as well with a 4.5/5 rating at Buzzillions, but those who criticized the tights did so mainly because of their individual fit. And the category average was a 4.1/5. Sheebest Shindigger Capri Tights fared better with a 5/5 star overall rating. The 3 reviewers all noted that the capris hold up and are comfortable, yet 2 of the 3 commented that the padding is not as generous as that of similar products.
For women looking for comfort and form flattering fashion in a pair of cycling shorts, one of Sheebest’s varied styles may prove a perfect fit.
