JMichael on "riding position" http://www.cycling.com/forums/topic.php?id=600#post-749 Sat, 12 Jul 2008 21:32:40 +0000 JMichael 749@http://www.cycling.com/forums/ Do you have a local bike shop?  Most good LBS have someone that is F.I.S.T. qualified (a type of fitment method), or possibly another method to find your "fit coordnates."  This is "your" personal best fit.  It will account for length of your limbs, flexiblilty, maximum/minimum hip angle, weight distribution, and fitness level.  I would highly recomend getting a fit by someone who can "see" where the issue may be coming from. I have recently adjusted my seat. We moved it a total of 1.5cm.  And Yes, it was a very noticable difference.  Oh, and unless you're focused on getting big legs,....you won't!  In order to make your legs bigger you'd have to purposefuly train for that result.  Eating a high protein diet (2-4g per lb of body weight per day), focusing on high weights and low reps (8-10 reps max), and possibly more considering the biological factors of being a woman. Women tend to have more difficulty gaining muscle to a point without dietary/supplemental/anabolic help. You're legs will most likely "tone up" and become more striated (being able to tell when you're flexing or relaxed), but "aerobic" exercise will burn fat.  I'm assuming you've seen a steak or cut of meat before.  They have a term for meat called "marbling," it is the measure of fat "within" the muscle, and all animals have it (includings humans).  Cycling will actually burn the fat "within" the muscle making them more "compact."
